Kurt Keats | Assistant Coach U16 Prep
Kurt is from Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up playing out of the Assiniboine Park Minor Hockey Association. He graduated from St Paul’s High School in 2013 and played his Junior Hockey with the Winnipeg Blues in the MJHL and the Powell River Kings in the BCHL. He was also fortunate enough to represent Team Canada on the International stage four separate times, starting with Team Canada West at the U17 World Hockey Challenge in 2011, and then with Team Canada West again at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge three times (2012, 2013, and 2014), captaining the team in 2013. Kurt then went on to play Division 1 Hockey at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst for four years (2015-19), ending his college career with a loss in the National Championship Game to Minnesota- Duluth in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from UMass with a degree in Sports Management from the Isenberg School of Management. Upon graduation in May of 2019, accepted a position with Hockey Canada as a Coordinator of National Teams and was fortunate enough to be with Team Canada for several marquee international events such as the Spengler Cup, The Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, The World Under 17 Hockey Challenge and the World Junior A Challenge. Kurt started with the Rink in the beginning of August and will have a split role between Assistant Coach with the RHA U16 Prep Team as well as a Player Development Coach with Rink.
