Off-Ice Training Hours
Study Hall Hours
The school day for RHA student-athletes will be adjusted to accommodate their academic and training requirements optimally. Teams will primarily travel and compete at the highest levels across provincial and international borders throughout the entire school year. A designated team liaison from Shaftesbury will be responsible for ensuring that players meet academic standards and are adequately prepared for post-secondary applications and career decisions.
Players practice four to five times per week, adjusted according to the game schedule, typically featuring weekend or showcase tournaments. RHA student-athletes will be on the ice more, with more skill development, than any other player in Manitoba. RHA Winninpeg currently has six teams; U15, U15 Prep, U17 Prep Red, U17 Prep Black, U18 Prep and Female U18 Prep, all of which compete in the CSSHL.
The student-athletes participate in on-ice activities daily. Throughout the week, they engage in structured practices and skill development sessions. Each team collaborates closely with its on-ice skills coaches and off-ice performance coaches within the program, alongside educational-resources cover topics such as mental performance, nutritional, recovery, and more.
Character development is a central focus at the hockey academy, emphasizing the importance of instilling values such as teamwork, integrity, and perseverance alongside on-ice skills. Students grow into well-rounded individuals who carry these principles beyond the rink. Through discipline and dedication, the academy fosters resilience, confidence, and leadership abilities to excel in all aspects of life, producing exceptional individuals both on and off the ice.
