Winnipeg, MB — Two RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg student-athletes officially became Western Hockey League prospects this week. Athens Shingoose and Brady Filmon, two players who have impressed scouts and coaches all season long, were both selected by the Prince Albert Raiders in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

Shingoose, a dynamic forward with elite skating and offensive instincts, was selected 16th overall in the first round. His game has continued to evolve over the past season, showing an ability to impact the game in all three zones while maintaining the high-end skill that has always set him apart.

Head Coach Brad Purdie praised the young forward’s all-around growth.

"Athens is a difference-maker. He has the kind of offensive ability that turns heads, but it was his commitment to becoming a complete player this season that really stood out. He is ready for this next step."

Filmon, a reliable two-way player with a high compete level and strong hockey sense, heard his name called in the third round at 62nd overall. Known for his ability to elevate his play in key moments, Filmon has earned a reputation as a player who makes those around him better.

Purdie recognized the leadership and consistency Filmon brought to the team this season.

"Brady plays the game the right way. He shows up every day, puts in the work, and does all the little things that help teams win. He is the kind of player every coach wants on their bench."

Shingoose and Filmon now look ahead to the next chapter of their hockey journeys with the Prince Albert Raiders, a franchise known for developing talent at the WHL level. Both players exemplify the program’s commitment to developing athletes who succeed on and off the ice.

Their selections mark another milestone for RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg, which continues to build a reputation as one of the country’s top hockey development programs.
