For Immediate Release: January, 11, 2018
The Canadian Hockey January 10th trade deadline has come and gone for another year and there was a fury of action spreading across the Western Hockey League, as well as the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
Two current RHA student-athletes, Ty Thorpe and Jonathon Lambos found themselves on the move yesterday, along with RHA alumni Caleb Paisley.
RHA student-athlete Tristen Robins, and former RHA defensemen Joel Sexsmith were also a part of trades over the past week.
Thorpe and Lambos found themselves in a blockbuster trade in the WHL, sending Brandon Wheat Kings All-Star Tanner Kaspick to the Victoria Royals for Rink Hockey Academy’s Thorpe and Lambos, along with draft picks. Ty Thorpe is in his second year with RHA, while Lambos is in his first year with RHA.
Robins, in his second year with RHA, was a part of a trade that sent him from the Regina Pats to the Saskatoon Blades as part of a package for Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Libor Hajek. Robins began the year in Regina before rejoining RHA at the end of September.
A pair of former RHA student-athletes were on the move as well, with Caleb Paisley (Midget Prep, 16/17) moving from the Nipawin Hawks in the SJHL to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in the MJHL. Joel Sexsmith (Bantam Prep, 16/17) was moved from Swift Current to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a 1st Round pick back on Sunday January 7th.
